About

“Mom, please send me mail.”

That’s really where CareDrops started.

By the time my daughter went away to college, I already knew something about having kids build lives away from home.

My son had moved three states away. Then my daughter headed off to college out of state. Different kids, different stages of life, different reasons for leaving but for me, there was a common thread.

They were exactly where they were supposed to be.

And I still wanted ways to stay connected.

My daughter and I talk often. She's busy building her new life, and I love hearing about all of it: classes, friends, activities, dorm life, the good days and the not-so-good ones.

Then, during one of our calls her first year away, she said something surprisingly simple:

“Mom, please send me mail.”

Mail?

I could text either of my kids anytime. We could talk on the phone. I could send money or a gift card electronically in about thirty seconds.

But that wasn't what she meant.

She wanted something to arrive.

Something waiting for her. Something she could pick up and open. A small, tangible reminder that someone back home was thinking about her.

And suddenly, something clicked.

A Little Connection, Wherever Life Takes Them

Our kids grow up.

They go to college. Move across the state or three states away. Start jobs. Build relationships. Create homes and routines and lives that increasingly belong to them.

That's what we raised them to do.

But there's an interesting space that opens up when they leave home: they need us differently, but that doesn't mean connection matters less.

I loved the idea of sending something tangible. I didn't love the idea that showing someone you care had to mean assembling a giant box of stuff.

College dorm rooms are tiny. Apartments aren't necessarily much bigger. And our grown kids usually don't need more clutter.

Parents have full lives, too. A thoughtful gesture shouldn't require shopping at three stores, finding a box, packing everything up and making a trip to ship it.

I started wondering:

What if staying connected could be smaller and simpler?

Something that could arrive in a mailbox. Something useful and fun without being overwhelming. Something easy enough to send just because.

Most importantly, something that still felt personal.

That idea became CareDrops.

Small Package. Big “Thinking of You.”

Each CareDrop includes a gift card, a few practical or fun surprises, and a little encouragement all tucked into our signature gold mailer and sent directly to someone you care about.

The contents change because part of the fun is not knowing exactly what will arrive.

And you don't need a special occasion to send one.

Maybe they're having a hard week. Maybe midterms are coming. Maybe they started a new job. Maybe they just accomplished something worth celebrating.

Or maybe absolutely nothing happened.

You simply want them to know:

I'm thinking about you. I'm proud of you. I'm still right here.

No giant care package required.

Why CareDrops Exists

As our kids grow, our relationships with them grow too.

We're supposed to give them room. To let them make decisions, build friendships, take chances, make mistakes and create lives of their own.

But independence doesn't mean connection disappears.

Sometimes connection is a long phone call.

Sometimes it's a text.

And sometimes it's opening the mailbox and discovering a shiny gold envelope from someone who loves you.

That's the little moment I wanted to create - first for my own kids, and now for the people you love.

Enough to say, “I'm here.”
Small enough to let them fly.

Meet the Founder

VaNessa: mom, entrepreneur, and founder of CareDrops.

CareDrops was inspired by two kids leaving home in two very different directions and one daughter's wonderfully simple request:

“Mom, please send me mail.”

It takes a few minutes to send. It means more than you'd think to receive.
